The California Energy Commission (CEC) selected #Symbio, #Michelin, #Faurecia along with GTI and other industry partners, to develop and demonstrate a hydrogen-powered Class 8 regional haul truck that will match the performance of a 15-litre diesel vehicle and provide an emissions-free solution for regional haul fleets. This is part of the “Symbio H2 Central Valley Express” project, funded with $2 million from the CEC.
Starting in the second half of 2023, the truck will operate for 12 months on a demanding 400-mile route between the Inland Empire and the northern San Joaquin Valley. The vehicle will utilise existing and future hydrogen refuelling infrastructure provided primarily by Air Liquide, Shell and Trillium.
